5 Governing Principles

At the start of the 2007 legislative session, House Republican Leader Marty Seifert unveiled the five governing principles House Republicans will use to develop, evaluate and support legislation:

1. Common Sense
2. Fiscal Responsibility and Lower Taxes
3. Personal Responsibility and Individual Freedom
4. Stronger Families
5. Safety and Security

“These governing principles will guide our legislators and hopefully the entire Minnesota Legislature in doing what is right for Minnesota today and in the future,” Seifert said. “Our legislative agenda will meet these governing principles. More importantly, they will not bankrupt the state or the taxpayer.”
